A unique airport operation: looking back on the NATO Summit

On June 24 and 25, Schiphol was at the center of international diplomacy. During the NATO Summit in The Hague, our airport served as the official arrival and departure point for world leaders, foreign and defense ministers, delegations, and media from dozens of countries. In a short span of time, Schiphol became the stage for a large-scale international operation, where security, logistics, and hospitality came together seamlessly.

To safely and efficiently manage the hundreds of state flights, a dedicated reception area was set up, and the Polderbaan runway was temporarily used as a parking area for government aircraft. At the same time, regular airport operations continued as usual, serving nearly 200,000 travelers per day. A remarkable achievement made possible through close cooperation between Schiphol, aviation partners, and government agencies.
